I just now got a nice piece of paper from my loan company (from my undergrad) saying I was put back in deferment, so I'm assuming financial aid is finally taking care of all the fall term stuff.
I wouldn't worry too much about it.
I get financial aid too, and I always get a student refund every quarter, which doesn't come in until the first week of the quarter.
If it's bothering you that much, just give the fin. aid office a call and they'll walk you through it, or you can check your myscad account.

first off, your friend is HILARIOUS! but she does have a point, you gotta work on how you describe things to people who dont know.


ANYWAYS

I had to look on myscad because they lost my paperwork also. There were red flags on the side the status things under My Info. I called my advisor and she told me what I was missing. I then got the missing documents and faxed them that day. Dont wait. Then a month later, I emailed her again and asked why the red flags are still there. She told me it takes 4 to 8 weeks to process (although while she was out, I spoke to someone else who told me it would take 4 weeks at the most) and within a week the papers were processed. then two weeks later(which was two days ago btw) I got my financial award status. I dont live in a dorm so I dont know how your dorm fees work but I've never had to pay my tuition by august 1st. In fact, financial aid doesn't usually go through till the first week we come back or the week before. This is why we dont get refunds till two weeks in. Make sure you stay on them. Don't hesitate to call and ask about your financial status or the status on the paper work. Ask when it went off and when you should expect results. The y will know when they sent it off.

I got an email saying my financial aid was already applied, so no problems there. However, my roommate is in a similar situation, in which they say they didnt receive his papers until July 2nd and will take 4 to 6 weeks to process, and if that is not processed by August 1, he cant pay either. He sent the papers weeks before july 2, and he lives near savannah, so best I could suggest him is take it up with the ombudsman. But yes, SCAD will fail and take you down with them.

Dude SCAD can be one huge as stitch in the side sometimes. The same things happened to me as well in regards to the financial Aid. You should call them and tell them that you havent gotten the aid yet and because they havent gotten it to you then will extend the fee date and not drop you from your classes. In all honesty the ppl at scad fuck you over. They do me...

I got an email and mail stating what I was awarded weeks ago. What's weird is a friend got her award statement before the spring quarter even ended. That office is pretty strange, and I would highly recommend you calling them about this. If your officer isn't there keep calling every couple of hours everyday until you can get a hold of them.

This isn't just a SCAD thing. College financial offices are goofy this way as my sister has had problems getting in touch with hers, too.
